At the wonderful tragic mysterious tree
On that beautiful scandalous night you and me
Were atoned by His blood and forever washed white
On that beautiful scandalous night
Just this morning, Caitrin and I were listening to a song called "Beautiful Scandalous Night" and we also attended Stations of the Cross this afternoon. Two great ways to help us think of Jesus' sacrifice and suffering on this beautiful, yet tragic, day. Perhaps what is hardest to grasp is the great love Jesus has for us... and His generous mercy. It is days like today that bring me joy.
Recently I heard a clip by Abbot Placid Solari (the Abbot at Belmont Abbey College, where we lived last year). He talked about the Rule of St. Benedict and how he mentions the word "joy" two times in the Rule. Both times, interestingly, are when he speaks about Lent. Now that Lent is over, we pray that your hearts are filled with even more joy than when this season began.
For old times sake, here is an Easter picture from last year. We look forward to updating you with this years picture in the coming week.
