What's in a name?

Greetings to our loyal blog readers! We look forward to uploading more pictures soon, but we wanted to answer a few common questions we've been getting, so...

Why Caitrin?

Pure. From the name Catherine or Katherine. Also used as an independent name.

Origin: Irish Gaelic

Well, long story short... we have a dear friend named Kaitrin, whom Brittany always told she would name a daughter after (did you believe us Kaitrin?), but we decided to spell it with a "C" instead of a "K" because Brittany's mom is Catherine and we, of course, think highly of St. Catherine of Sienna. Some might ask, "Well, why not just name her Catherine then?" We liked that Caitrin was a little bit different and also honored the Irish side of her family.

Why Eleanor?
Simple: Tom's beloved grandmother was named Elenore. Unfortunately Brittany and Caitrin were never able to meet her, but we love her none the less!

Birth story? (We'll spare you the details but here are the basics.)

We went to the hospital to begin induction on Friday night and were scheduled to begin Pitocin (which starts the actual contractions) around 6am on Saturday. However, at 2:45am Brittany went into labor on her own; and 7 hours later @ 9:45am we welcomed little miss Caitrin into the world (naturally).

Tom says in lieu of flowers, please send Chick-fil-A giftcards.

Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers! We will try to call or send updates as we adjust to our new schedule.
